Experience Church with Community

Our History

Mighty Fortress began in 2000 under Pastor Jerry Salinas. The Lord called Pastor Jerry home in 2010 after faithful service and brought Pastor Sammy Lopez in 2011. Pastor Sammy Lopez has been the Lead Pastor of Mighty Fortress for over 10 years bringing in a new direction and life into Mighty Fortress. In October 2023 Pastor Sammy left to pursue full-time evangelism. Mighty Fortress is currently in a transition phase as we seek God’s direction and the next Lead Pastor.

Our Mission

Mighty Fortress is a Church that focuses on the family. “Building stronger families” is at the very heart of our mission. We believe that if men are spiritually strong, the spiritual result will create stronger women and children – ultimately “Building stronger families”. We long to see the people of God changed, lives healed by the truth of God’s Word and families built upon a strong foundation by their faith in Christ. To find out more you can visit us in person on Sundays at 9am or 11am.

Our Vision

We exist to fulfill the Great Commission and how we do that is to be, to raise and to reproduce disciples. We aim to connect people to Christ and the Church by living in community and by empowering people to pursue their calling of disciple making. At Mighty Fortress we strive to make Christ and His Gospel our main focus by helping people build stronger faith and in turn, build stronger families.

Doctrinal Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Mighty Fortress Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these Biblical doctrines

Trinity

We believe in the Godhead. There is one God who eternally exists as three distinct Persons — the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Bible speaks of the Father as God (Philippians 1:2), Jesus as God (Titus 2:13), and the Holy Spirit as God (Acts 5:3-4).

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the supreme source of the truth for Christian beliefs and living. It was written by human authors, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit because it is inspired by God it is truth without error. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 12:6, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 119:160; Proverbs 30:5)

Salvation

We believe Salvation is a gift from God. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ can we be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal Life begins the moment we exchange our life for the life of Christ. (Romans 5:1, 6:23, 10:9; John 11:25, 14:6; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 1:13, 2:8 -9; Galatians 2:20)

Eternal Security

We believe God give us eternal life through Jesus Christ. Because of this, the believer is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by self-effort, therefore we cannot lose it. God says, “I will never leave you, never forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5,7:25,10:10; John 6:37, 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

Baptism

We believe that after Salvation, Baptism (by immersion) is a one-time act of obedient identification with Jesus as Lord. A believer is baptized as an outward sign of his or her conscious confession of repentance and faith to Jesus Christ. It is a beautiful picture of the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Jesus Christ. (Mark 1:9; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 8:38-39; Acts 2:41; Colossians 2:12)

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ and the family of God. It is made up of saved and baptized believers, who regularly join together on the Lord’s Day for worship, fellowship, and Ministry. (Matthew 16:18; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Hebrews 10:25)
